Martial Law (1998-2000) Walker, Texas Ranger (1993-2001) Type: Crossover Group: 2 | ||
Martial Law: a CBS show about martial arts cops working out of Los Angeles. Walker, Texas Rangers: a CBS show about martial arts cops working in Texas. Aside from the difference in location, it's the perfect starting point for a crossover. Simple solution to that locale problem: have Martial Law star Sammo Hung pursue a bigoted villain all over L.A. and end the episode with him fleeing to the Lone Star State with Sammo following after him. And that's just what they did, starting the story on Martial Law and finishing it up with Sammo teaming up with Chuck Norris's Walker character and his Texas Rangers for a kung fu finale. Of course, if you catch either half of this crossover in syndication, odds are that the Martial Law episode will end with the villain actually getting nabbed so that, airing by itself, it will play out okay as a stand alone story. Check out any Magnum P.I. crossover entry or the Happy Days and Laverne And Shirley page for crosses like this where in syndication the first half of a two part crossover gets a new ending for syndication.
