I will admit it: this show is before my time and not big enough to have shown up in syndication where I lived so all information on this series is second hand. I do know it was a spin off of The Danny Thomas Show and that as opposed to spinning off some regular from that show it was rather a case of a character making an appearance on the show and that episode acting as a sort of pilot for the new show.

   Joey Bishop starred as Joey Barnes. Joey was a little fish in the entertainment industry's big pond. Joey's family and friends got him into trouble by trying to get him to exploit his position in the business for them. Only his position wasn't really that good or exploitable. He just let them think it was to make himself look good. So then he would have to work work like crazy to maintain the illusion that he had power and contacts of some sort.

   Then they switched things around after the first season. Joey was a talk show host balancing his career and a family much like Danny Thomas's character. The Talk Show angle enabled them to bring in big name celebrities for guest star spots. With that kind of plot change I guess Joey must have known somebody!

   Since I know little about this show, any info is appreciated, especially info about the premise of the Danny Thomas episode and any cool trivia and odd facts. Thanks!
