One good turn deserves another. If you have a popular show you might as well try and see if you can spin off another show even half as popular from it. Burke's Law was a popular L.A. detective drama in the 60's when hip detective shows were all the rage. And from Burke's Law came the chic chick detective drama Honey West. Far from a regular character who earned a show of her own, she appeared in one episode of Burke's Law to test the character out and then the next season had a show of her own.
Just as Burke was a multi-millionaire L.A.P.D. detective (oookay) Honey was a well to do and fine female private eye also operating in the City of Angels. Anne Francis as a private detective with cool spy toys. I'd watch. I guess I'd be largely alone though. Honey West only went one season.
Years later in 1994 Burke's Law was revived in a new version on CBS. The character of Honey West was also brought back and reunited with Amos Burke for an episode.
